The Clwydian Range
The Clwydian Range is a series of hills and mountains in north east Wales that runs from Llandegla in the south to Prestatyn in the north. We sit on the edge of the range, near the Offa’s Dyke National Trail.

Snowdonia is a region in northwest Wales concentrated around the mountains and glacial landforms of massive Snowdonia National Park.

Chester
Chester is a city in northwest England, founded as a Roman fortress in the 1st century A.D. It’s known for its extensive Roman walls made of local red sandstone.
Portmeirion
Portmeirion is a tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village.

North Wales has some of the most well preserved castles in the whole of Europe, often with breathtaking scenery and fascinating history to discover.
Outstanding Beaches and Much More
Pheasants Retreat sits in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales.
We are near to the A55. This gives you quick access to all of the attractions in the area. If you like castles, there are 23 of them in North Wales, including the stunning castles of Conwy, Caernarfon, Harlech and Chirk.
We are 1.2 miles from a wonderful thatched pub, which serves good food. We are 10 minutes walk the river Elwy which is very beautiful with its limestone cliffs and a perfect place to swim. Because the river is slow moving in Summer, it has time to be heated by the sun and trust me, it’s wonderful swimming there on a sunny day.
We are half an hour away from the beautiful Roman city of Chester. Chester zoo is the best zoo in the country. We are less than an hour away from the magnificent city of Liverpool. Why not visit Knowsley Safari Park? Watch those baboons, though. We are an hour and 20 minutes from the vibrant city of Manchester. We are an hour away from Holyhead, if you fancy popping over to Dublin for the day.
If you fancy a bit of retail therapy, Chester is a fabulous place for shopping, but if you want to grab a real bargain, you must go to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet Shopping Centre. It is only half an hour away. Why not go and visit The Blue Planet Aquarium while you are there? They have the largest collection of sharks in Europe.
Visit the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno (half an hour away) and enjoy ice creams while walking on the historic peer. Watch out for those seagulls, though! Take a cable car ride up the Great Orme, while you are there.
If you like your mountains, we’re just over an hour away from Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain. It even has a train up to the cafe at the top, if you want to take the easy route.
We’re also an hour away from the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway. Take a trip on a real steam engine!
In just less than an hour, you could be surfing at Surf Snowdonia. It is the world’s first commercial artificial surfing lake and the United Kingdom’s only artificial surfing lake. While you are in the area, you could go to Zip World. Take an exhilarating zip wire ride through the underground slate caverns. A great way to avoid the weather on a rainy day.
I nearly forgot to mention the amazing beaches of North Wales. I would always recommend visiting Anglesey or my favourite unknown gem, Barmouth.
